  95. 3.      Installation
  96.  
  97.         These drivers can only be used under OS/2 Warp.
  98.  
  99.         To guarantee a successful installation, be sure to have the
  100.         original VGA driver installed and active.
  101.  
  102.  
  103. 3.1     Restoration of the original VGA driver
  104.  
  105.         Use the restore option at system boot time (Alt+F1) and reset
  106.         the primary display to VGA (Key V).  Consult your OS/2
  107.         handbook for further information.
  108.  
  109.         You have to reboot the system for the change to take effect.
  110.  
  111.         !!!! ATTENTION !!!!
  112.         If you have previously used the driver version 1.00.0x beta,
  113.         you have to delete the WS3INIT.DLL in the \OS2\DLL directory
  114.         prior to the installation procedure.

  117. 3.2     Installation of version 1.xx ELSA Warp drivers
  118.  
  119.         Insert your ELSA CD into your drive, open the CD-ROM drive
  120.         object on your desktop, change to the OS/2 directory appropriate
  121.         for your graphics card (i.e., \WINNER\2000AVI\OS2) and start
  122.         SETUP.EXE. The contents of this file should appear on the
  123.         "Introduction" page.
  124.

  126. 3.3     Using the setup program
  127.  
  128.         On the "Adapter Info" page you may view information about your
  129.         graphics adapter. Use the "Help" function for detailed
  130.         explanations of the displayed items.
  131.  
  132.         You will have to specify your monitor and the desired graphics
  133.         resolution on the "Resolution" page. Please be sure that the
  134.         information concerning your monitor is correct and complete
  135.         (particularly the scan rates) in order to avoid damaging your
  136.         monitor. You have to check the selected resolution using the
  137.         "Test" button, or the mode will not be accepted.
  138.  
  139.         Use the "Installation" page to select the files to transfer to
  140.         your hard disk and to start the installation process. Use the
  141.         "Help" button in order to get further information. After
  142.         completion of the installation you have to shut down and reboot
  143.         your system. OS/2-Warp will start with the selected resolution.
  144.         If you have specified the resolution manager in the installation
  145.         procedure, you can use it for changing the selected resolution.

  150. 4.      Notes
  151.  
  152. 4.2     WIN-OS/2 Configuration :
  153.  
  154.         To change the standard configuration, use the Windows program
  155.         WINman which is automatically started after first calling
  156.         WINOS2.  An online help is available.
  157.  
  158.         By default, the ELSA Windows Driver WINNER08.DRV is installed
  159.         with a resolution of 640x480x256.
  160.  
  161.         The WINNERxx.Drv (in WINDOWS) are copied to the WINOS/2
  162.         directory during the installation. You don't have to copy and
  163.         expand this driver from the GUI-disk.
  164.  
  165. 4.3     OS/2 Warp Version 3
  166.         The Installation is enhanced to run under this OS2 Version.
  167.  
  168. 4.4     De-Installation:
  169.  
  170.         1. Reset to VGA
  171.

  208.         Tu use the hardware support of the DIVE interface, you must
  209.         have 64MB of address soace available in your system. This is
  210.         determined and configured by the driver.  A failure will occur
  211.         if any of the following conditions holds:
  212.  
  213.            a) PCI BUS computer :
  214.                 - more than 4031MB of address space used already
  215.                   unlikely.
  216.                 - older system BIOS (non PCI-conforming)
  217.                   fix: place the following line into your CONFIG.SYS:
  218.                         SET VIDEO_APERTURE=A00
  219.                   This allocated the 64MB Video aperture at 2,5GB in
  220.                   your address space. Be sure this does not conflict
  221.                   with address space requirements of other cards you
  222.                   use.
  223.            b) VL Bus computer :
  224.                 - more than 64MB of main memory
  225.                   fix: none available
  226.                 - BIOS assigned an invaliued address
  227.                   fix : add the following line to your CONFIG.SYS:
  228.                         SET VIDEO_APERTURE=40
  229.                   This assigns addresses following the first 64MB to

  353. 6.      Caveats / Known Problems
  354.  
  355. 6.1     WINOS2
  356.  
  357.         With some monitors, you can't use a refresh rate different
  358.         from that of the WPS. In this case you will see a black screen
  359.         (or something else) in the WINOS/2 Session.
  360.  
  361.         WINNER WINOS2 and Seamless Driver:
  362.         Use only the WINNERxx.DRV OS/2-Driver Disk. These files are
  363.         copied by the installation utility.
  364.  
  365.  
  366. 6.2     Lotus 1-2-3 f. OS/2 Vers. 2.0
  367.         Lotus 1-2-3 runs only in 8BPP modes.
  368.  
  369.  
  370. 6.3     Software and Color Cursor
  371.  
  372.         For the following configuration no software cursor is available:
  373.  
  374.         2 MB Video RAM:
  375.             1600 x 1280 x 8 BPP
  376.         Work around:
  377.             Use the resolution 1600 x 1200 x 8 BPP
  378.  
  379.         4 MB Video RAM:
  380.             1600 x 1280 x 16 BPP

  382.             Use the resolution 1600 x 1200 x 16 BPP

  384.         8 MB Video RAM:

  389. 6.4     Hardware video acceleration for the WINNER 1000TRIO/V is only
  390.         possible for one video at a time. Additional videos will be
  391.         replayed using software motion video.
  392.         fix: for optimal performance, finish one video before you
  393.              start the next.
  394.  
  395.         In addition, the selected screen resolution should leave
  396.         enough free video memory for storing a frame of the required
  397.         resolution.  This will usually not be the case with a
  398.         resolution of 800x600 at 32bpp with 2MB of video
  399.         memory. Again, if the driver cannot use the hardware
  400.         acceleration, it will revert to software motion video.
  401.         fix: choose a graphics resolution smaller than the available
  402.              maximum.
  403.  
  404.         When using the WINNER 1000TRIO/V, hardware video shrinking will
  405.         not function properly in all cases.

  410. 7.      EnDIVE
  411.  
  412.  
  413. 7.1     X and Y filtering
  414.  
  415.         The X filter interpolates the pixels for the horizontal
  416.         dimension and the Y filter for the vertical dimension.
  417.  
  418.         Y filtering works only, if
  419.            1. just one movie is running
  420.            2. sufficient offscreen is available,
  421.         otherwise it is ignored.
  422.  
  423.         The settings for the filters are done via the "ELSA EnDIVE
  424.         Filter" tool. X filtering is set by default.
